LOWER FLORIDA KEYS FLATS FISHING REPORT
Monday, June 21 2010

                                      Here they come!!!!!!

Not as many anglers on the water now...  Typically this time of year most of the tarpon have moved on....

Still lots of schools of tarpon on the flats...  along with permit and bonefish..   Unfortunately I picked the next two weeks to visit friends in Montana..

I love Montana,  but it is fishing soooo good right now....

I will be back July 8th..  Save some tarpon for me!

Putting on the pressure...

Rich and Gerry hit it right for some end of the season tarpon fishing..  Weather was cooperative and so were the fish!

Gerry with his first big tarpon..

Of course having two anglers on the bow that can put the fly right were it needs to be,,,right now!    Does put more fish in the air..

Yesterday Jerry and Randy each hooked up with a big tarpon...  Today they had an early flight out of Key West..  We opted to go Dawn Patrol for baby tarpon..  Got three on surface flies... Gurglers..  Then switched to big tarpon..  Gerry hooked a dandy...

Thanks guys it was fun!!

I still have some days available this month....  Wanna get one???

June 14, 15, 20 and 21...

The last week or so several of my anglers have called me concerning their up coming vacation and the possibility of the oil spill effecting the fishing..    Here is the latest NOAA report..

News Flash

Oil Sheen, Tar Balls Forecast to Remain Offshore of Keys

June 7, 2010

Oil trajectory maps, released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration show non-contiguous, light sheens of oil and scattered tar balls from the Gulf oil spill remaining to the west and northwest of the Florida Keys through Wednesday.

According to NOAA, the forecast position of the southeastern edge of non-contiguous, very light and colorless oil sheen and tar balls for Wednesday is about 300 miles to the northwest of Key West.

Meanwhile, NOAA analysis shows most of the oil, especially heavy concentrations, has not entered the Gulf Loop Current. The Gulf Loop Current is a clockwise current that carries water from the Yucatan Channel north into the Gulf of Mexico, then back down south off Florida's west coast, past the Dry Tortugas and into the Gulf Stream.

Tarpon fishing remains good!!  The season is winding down...  Considerably less anglers on the water...  Some days we are getting LOTS of shots other days we are having to work to find fish..

Capt. Tom Morgan: If it was easy, little girls with pig tails would be catching them....

Jim feed one a green toad fly yesterday!!

JB had a tarpon pounce on his worm fly the day before..

I still have some days available  this month...  Here is your chance to get one before they leave the Keys..
