Hard to believe it is July already.. It must be July.. the weather is hot and so is the fishing.. early morning starts have been very productive..
Dawn is a great time to find tailing permit, pushes of bonefish and rolling tarpon.
Had the pleasure of fishing with Patty and Bill Kraft this week. Bill is not only good at stocks, he is good at putting fish in the air too!
The gurgler was the fly of choice...
Most of the migratory tarpon have moved on... but there are still enough on the right tides to make it interesting..
Been guiding virtually every day for the last 4 months.. It has been a great tarpon season.
Had a day off today and fished bones with my buddy Capt. Dale Bishop. It was fun being on the front of the skiff again! Thanks Dale
Summer is a great time to be in the Keys. It is off season.
Fishing is good.
Very few other boats on the flats.
Water is warm for snorkeling and diving.
Snow birds have flown north.
Bars and restaurants are not crowded.
Discounted lodging and rental cars.
Currently Dolphin Marina is offering a lodging special.. Stay four nights and get a free rental boat for a day.. That's a deal.. You can go out to reef, catch some dolphin, snorkel Looe Key.. live bait tarpon in a channel or go out to Picnic Island and drink beer with the locals.
