LOWER FLORIDA KEYS FLATS FISHING REPORT
Monday, September 26 2011

Another broken record fishing report...  Weather and the fishing has been hot!

Capt. Morgan with a nice Florida Keys bonefish

Early morning starts have been key..   By mid afternoon the flats can be to warm to find fish.   On the right tides we can find bonefish and permit tailing..  Fished this weekend with my buddy capt. Tom Mogan ..  We found some very cooperative bonefish and had a blast!

Shrimp Hatch + Tarpon = Fun!

Fished with Andreas from Germany today..   weather was iffy... launched before dawn.. found tarpon and gulls feeding on shrimp..

Tarpon love gurglers!

We got several nice tarpon on fly, before the weather forced us off the water...

But we have tomorrow too!

      Parrotdise Waterfront Bar & Grille

Fall is "Off Season"  No snow birds, very few tourists, vacationing families from the main land are back to school, etc..

Lots less people on the road, restaurants, etc....

Parrotdise has announced 30% off food prices for the month of Sept.  That includes 30% off the half price happy hour prices too..   Try the sesame seared ahi tuna and the Caribbean jerk wings..

Plus the fishing is good!

I still have some days available in Sept. and October..

Sept.  28-30

Oct. 1,2,8-10, 12

Rosie and Callen Video

Callan and Rosie from Figi vacationed at Little Palm Resort and fished with me this Sept.. I had a blast fishing with them.. Callen operates Total Xstreem Fishing We got baby tarpon, jacks, smalls sharks and not so small sharks.  Click on the above link to check out their trip...

Fall is a great time to fish in the Lower Florida Keys....

1. The best months for bonefish..

On the right tides and the right days, we have been getting into lots of bonefish, tailing and waking..

2. Very, very few boats on the flats..  Might see one or two other skiffs all day... some days  none..

 3.  Permit and tarpon fishing is good too!  Fall is the right time to try for a slam..

5. Discounts on lodging

Currently Dolphin Marina is offering a lodging special.. Stay four nights and get a free rental boat for a day.. That's a deal.. You can go out to reef, catch some dolphin, snorkel Looe Key ,dive for lobster, live bait tarpon in a channel or go out to Picnic Island and drink beer with the locals.

After almost a week of solid cloud cover.... The sun has returned!!

Over cast days can make for some great conditions to find rolling baby tarpon..   But I was ready to hunt bonefish and permit again..

Florida Keys bonefish flat.

September is probably the best month to fish for bonefish in the lower Florida Keys..  A good month for permit and resident tarpon too..

Florida Keys bonefish on fly..

This is the time of year I get to fish too!!  Got to fish with my buddy Capt. Bo Sellers yesterday...  Found a bunch of bonefish and some permit too..  It was a blast!!
