LOWER FLORIDA KEYS FLATS FISHING REPORT
Wednesday, October 24 2012

Fall in the Keys is my favorite time of year...

"Off Season" here in the Keys..

Not as many tourists... Bars and restaurants are not crowded. Lodging prices drop this time of year too..

Very few other boats on the water.. OH and the fishing can be REALLY good!

It has been 3 weeks since my last fishing report up date.. Been fishing... Here are a few of the pics from earlier this month..

Took David to a place I call Permatopia.

John with his first tarpon...

Tom with his first Fl.Keys permit!!

Fished with my buddy Tom a while back... Cloudy, calm, sketchy viability.. But we were getting shots at bones and permit waking and pushing in shallow water.. Seen a big push a ways out... poled over.. Tom cast and it was a huge school of reds..
Suprised to see that big of a school of reds on a bonefish flat in the lower Keys..

Found some bonefish here with my mom. Got weathered out and had to run.

Fun day on the water with the A Team from Mn.

Off to a good start this morning!

14 year old Jaxson and his grandfather Steve.. got tarpon, permit, cudas, jacks and sharks that day..

Another epic day day in the Keys! Steve from Mn. scored!

Got to fish with Jaxson and Bryon too. Father/son team from Mn.

Jaxson is a preditor!!

My office...

Windy yesterday!! Had fun with first time flats angler Matthew from Australia.. Found tarpon, redfish, cudas and sharks out of the wind on a 1/2 day charter..

Want to go fishing??

They say a picture is worth a 1000 words...     Here is a pic from last week..

I love this time of year... "Off Season" here in the Keys.. Very few tourists... Bars and restaurants are not crowded. Lodging prices drop this time of year. Very few skiffs on the water..

Most destination anglers are hunting birds, archery hunting, etc..

Here in the Keys we are stalking the flats for tarpon , permit and bonefish.

Kelly with one of the tarpon he caught..

I fished with Kelly and Jerry last month.. Finally got around to editing so of the video from our trip. Click on the link above to go to the you tube video.  Does this look like fun?

Scott with a nice Florida Keys tarpon.

Fall is a great time of year to target juvenile tarpon. Water temperatures are good, which make these fish active. They will readily eat a surface fly or soft plastics..

Bonefish ate a crab fly

Fall is considered the best time of year to hunt big bonefish.

Permit

Permit roam the same flats as the bonefish. These fish are elusive, fast and powerful

Jon gets his first tarpon!
