Redfish
Good News! The Lower Florida Keys are not known for redfishing.. Permit, tarpon and bonefish are the main "glamour" species we target on the flats.. How ever. I have been finding a fair amount of redfish in the back country on the right tides.. More then I have seen in the last two years.

Tom Rue with a barracuda.
December is the the time of year when the big cuda move on to the flats in good numbers.. If you like to fish for northern pike or muskies, you will LOVE cudas.. I do.. Takes are vicious, jumps are spectacular and their top speed is 30mph..

Sea Trout
I prefer to pole and sight fish, but if you want to keep the rod bent, blind casting for sea trout and lady fish has been good.. We have been getting lady fish on surface flies too.. Fun stuff!

Permit release..
Water temperatures have been good in the mid 70's. Been finding permit on the gulf edge, juvenile tarpon in the mangroves and even a few bonefish on the flats..

Dan from Switzerland with a nice snook.
This fall, I had the pleasure of fishing with Dan and Dan from Switzerland.. They got here for our first "cold front". Fishing was a little tougher then it could have been.. But we fed some tarpon, boated jacks, sharks and a very nice snook..
They did an excellent job fishing and filming.. Check out the video they made..
